LET FREEDOM READ DAY with Urban Grants 4 Us!

Updated: Oct 14, 2023

Saturday, October 7, 2023 - Take at least one action to help defend books from censorship and to stand up for the library staff, educators, writers, publishers, and booksellers who make them available!

It’s Banned Books Week, and Ali Velshi continues his resistance against the epidemic of book banning in the latest episode of “Velshi Banned Book Club.” Ivy League scholars Dr. Imani Perry and Dr. Eddie Glaude Jr., and writer and professor Ibram X. Kendi, examine two books that changed American culture -- “Beloved” by Toni Morrison and “Their Eyes Were Watching God” by Zora Neale Hurston. Listen now.

Support Stetson Branch Library and my favorite branch manager, Diane X. Brown, in her efforts to stock the shelves with books banned in other states - 197 Dixwell Avenue, New Haven, CT.

Show that you’re taking action on social media by using the hashtags #LetFreedomReadDay and #BannedBooksWeek!
